Street food

Our Nasi Kandar favourites
Find Jamal Mohamed Nasi Kandar right under the big tree. “70 years ago, it was a simple stall located on a side street, today it is now one of the most well-known nasi kandar restaurants in Butterworth. Since its humble beginnings, the restaurant has witnessed the ebb and flow of change in Butterworth. But one thing which hasn’t changed is its deliciously spicy ginger milk tea“ says Jamal, a frequent customer. The stall opens from 11 pm to 3am. Can’t wait? ND Nasi Kandar, another popular local stall commonly known as the ‘nasi kandar next to UOB Bank’ opens from 9pm.
Tea time
Find Kasilinggam’s tea stall under a big tree in the little lane behind Hotel Ambassadress) for frothy teh tarik, curry puffs and an assortment of kuihs (local Malay cakes). Teh tarik (literally "pulled tea") is a hot mix of milk and tea, Malaysia's national drink!
