There once were seven sisters …
One of the oldest and most famous restaurants in Kalaw, Seven Sisters started with two tables in the family living room. Over the years tables were added in the sunroom and on the patio until the restaurant took over the entirety of their colonial house. Now in its second generation, some of the original seven sisters are still working in the kitchen. And in case you wanted to know their names: LuLu, LinLin, Maw Maw, Su Su, WaWa, Seint Seint and Aye Aye.
Our favourites
The restaurant offers traditional Shan dishes ranging from Basil minced chicken to okra vegetable curry cooked in a flavoursome tamarind sauce. They also have great fresh juices and simple fried rice variations.

Inside the main room in the house, you will see family photos of the Htut family. The great-grandfather of the family, Charles Cyril Dingaven was part of the British army, but chose not to return to Britain but instead to stay in Kalaw and marry his local sweetheart.
